Game Awards 2018 to Feature 10 New Game Announcements, Including New Obsidian Project

The Game Awards 2018 are fast approaching, and the debate for which games will take the win in their respective categories is heated. More than anything though, the excitement for The Game Awards lies heavily in seeing announcements, trailers, and new details for upcoming games.

This year marks the fifth Game Awards with host and producer Geoff Keighley continuing to make the show bigger and better. The event organizers have opened up more options for people to watch the show, brought back the live orchestra, and of course allowed new ways for viewers to vote and interact. But this year will be bigger than the past particularly where the games are concerned.

Past shows have striven to bring in big games announcements or first looks at gameplay ,and this year will be no different. Through Twitter, Geoff Keighley has revealed that more than 10 games will be announced during the show, the biggest in its history.

What will be announced is definitely anybody’s guess, although Keighley tweeted out that Obsidian Entertainment will be revealing its new project. The studio, known for its RPGs like Wasteland 2 and Fallout: New Vegas, was recently acquired by Microsoft. This announcement will be the first from Obsidian under its new owner.

Speculation is also running high that Metroid will appear at the show in some capacity. Back in September, Keighley posted a picture to Twitter of himself and Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Aimé as well as celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck. Speculation started with Reggie wearing a Metroid shirt, which was seen as a tease for Metroid Prime 4. We will have to wait and see when the Game Awards air on December 6th.
