PlayStation Showcase 2023 Announced For May 24

Sony has officially announced a PlayStation Showcase live broadcast, which will feature over an hour of PlayStation 5 and PS VR 2 games from both first and third-party studios. The broadcast will begin on May 24 at 1PM PT / 4PM ET / 9PM BST / 10PM CEST, and can be found on the official PlayStation YouTube and Twitch channels.

The announcement from the PlayStation Blog promises a “wealth” of new games and new IP, as well as previews of “several new creations from PlayStation Studios” along with “spellbinding games” from Sony’s third-party partners and indie developers. With a runtime of over an hour, there will be plenty of time for some reveals both big and small.

Marvels Spider Man 2 Spider Man and Miles Morales
It’s been a while since we last heard news on Insomniac’s Marvel projects.

There’s no word on what games will be featured, but we can make a few guesses. We have to imagine there will be a lot to report on, considering it’s been over a year since the last PlayStation Showcase, which was in September of 2021. The elephant in the room would of course be Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which had its announcement alongside Marvel’s Wolverine at the September 2021 Showcase. We’re long overdue some more information on these games, but especially Spider-Man 2, currently scheduled for a 2023 release, as was most recently reconfirmed in October 2022.

We can likely anticipate more leaks and hints of what to expect as we get closer to the event. The announcement of the PlayStation Showcase itself was leaked earlier today before its reveal by Twitter leaker billbill-kun, and even earlier by Jeff Grubb on Discord and Twitter.

What will you be hoping to see from the PlayStation Showcase? We’ll be covering all the announcements as they come, so be sure to stay tuned to GameLuster for the latest official PS5 game reveals, PS VR 2 announcements and more!
