Pokemon TCG Pocket New Expansion And Trading Release Next Week

The hugely popular Pokémon TCG Pocket is about to get even bigger, as a brand new expansion has officially been announced! The Space-Time Smackdown expansion returns Pokémon TCG Pocket fans to the Sinnoh region of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl from way back in Generation 4. The new expansion is set to drop on Jan. 30, so you’ve still got a full week to try and finish your other collections!

A preview trailer was released on the official Pokémon YouTube channel, showcasing many new cards we’ll see featured in Space-Time Smackdown. Dialga and Palkia are of course showcased, given how they represent time and space respectively, alongside the starter trio of Turtwig, Chimchar and Piplup, with other Generation 4 favourites such as Leafeon and Pachirisu. We also get a good look at a stunning Cynthia trainer card, which is sure to be in high demand due to her popularity as a Pokémon champion.

Not only will an entire new expansion be added on Jan. 30, but the ability to trade cards will also be featured in an update on Jan. 28! A small preview is given in the hype trailer, showing two regular holographic cards being traded with a online trade partner. We’re still waiting for more information on exactly how trading works and what cards it will be limited to.

There is some weirdness around date specifics, as the official announcement tweet and YouTube description specify a Jan. 30 release date for the Space-Time Smackdown expansion, but the video preview says Jan. 29 at the end of the trailer. This is likely down to timezone issues, so we’ll be sure to update on the full release.
