Sega Announces Judgment Sequel Lost Judgment

The Judgment Day counter is up, bringing with it the announcement of Judgment sequel Lost Judgment. A first for Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio games, Lost Judgment will be releasing simultaneously worldwide.

The full Judgment Day event ran for over half an hour, bringing comments from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s Executive Director Toshihiro Nagoshi, Lost Judgment‘s Producer Kazuki Hosokawa, and protagonist Takayuki Yagami’s actor Takuya Kimura to supplement the plenty of new footage and details about Lost Judgment. There was also a global games media Q&A to close.

This time around, there will be a return to the Yokohama district of Isezaki Ijincho, introduced in Yakuza: Like A Dragon, as well as the old familiar stage of the Kamurocho district Judgment shares with the mainline Yakuza series.

Unlike Yakuza‘s move to turn-based combat for Like A Dragon, Lost Judgment will once again feature action-based combat, and has refined Yagami’s moveset with the introduction of a new stance. The investigation gameplay aspects have also seen a serious boost with the ability to climb buildings and sneak around topping off Judgment’s pursuit mechanics.

In addition to the promise of more “legal suspense action” from its main story, Lost Judgment introduces School Stories, where Yagami will help the students of the high school involved in the story’s key case overcome their teen dramas through a variety of mini-games.

If you don’t feel like watching the full event, you can check out just the announcement trailer below. It’s still a pretty hefty dose of new content, clocking in at just over 5 minutes:

Lost Judgment is due to release globally on September 24th for PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X and S.
