The highly anticipated sequel to Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, titled Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, is hitting the stage at this year’s The Game Awards. The latest Star Wars adventure will be getting its first gameplay trailer since its initial announcement earlier this year. The news was broke by The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley on his Twitter page, and shared his excitement for the game’s upcoming sequel.
Respawn’s first Star Wars game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, was well received when it was released in late 2019. This Jedi adventure proved that Electronic Arts was serious about making a great Star Wars game after the abysmal launch of Star Wars Battlefront II. Geoff Keighley states we will see “lots” of the game at the award show, indicating that the game could release soon. Adding to that theory, the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Steam page accidentally revealed a March 15, 2023 release date earlier today, but that date was quickly updated to “coming soon.” Hopefully we will find out exactly when we can play Respawn’s latest Star Wars title when The Game Awards airs this week on December 8.
Very excited to share with the world the first gameplay and look at Star Wars Jedi: Survivor during #TheGameAwards on Thursday.

The success of the Star Wars Jedi series is notable as Star Wars and Electronic Arts’ 10-year exclusivity deal is nearing completion. This doesn’t necessarily mean the American publisher can’t produce more Star Wars games; it just means more hands are in the pot. So far, Ubisoft has already announced a new game based on the long-running space odyssey slated for 2025. That game will be developed by Massive Entertainment and created in Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine. Before Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Electronic Arts’ Star Wars games never seemed to hit their potential. Then in 2017, EA’s Star Wars Battlefront II was criticized for its egregious microtransactions, which led to multiple investigations into loot boxes and gambling.
