System Shock remake is coming to the Playstation 4

Nightdive Studio’s recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring back a gaming classic in the form of System Shock, this campaign has been an immediate success and has reached its goal. Originally the game was destined for a PC release and this looked like the only place for which the game would surface, but as part of Nightdive Studio’s daily update they have revealed that System Shock will be headed to the Playstation 4. Sony’s system was not an original part of the campaign or its stretch goals but Nightdive Studio’s describes this announcement as “a thank you to our backers that put their faith in us.” To accompany the message they also provided a look at box art for the Playstation 4 version, which you can see below:

System Shock Playstation 4 Kickstarter

Nightdive Studio’s Jason Fader has shared that supporting the Playstation 4 with System Shock was a possibility, seeing the outcry for a Playstation 4 version, Nightdive Studios went and spoke to Sony about making it happen. In full Fader explains:

“When we launched this Kickstarter, supporting PS4 was a possibility, but we hadn’t started talking to Sony just yet about it.We were all focused on wrapping the demo up and prepping the Kickstarter…after we saw the overwhelming demand for PS4, we reshuffled our priorities and focused on talking to Sony about making that happen. After a few weeks and lotttts [sic] of emails, we are officially on track for bringing System Shock to the PS4!”

For those who want to contribute $30 to the ongoing campaign, you will now have the option of receiving the Playstation 4 version as a digital copy upon release, as Nightdive Studio’s has shared. All I can say is that I am excited to get the opportunity to finally give a go to the game that would eventually get succeeded by Bioshock, but we cannot complain. System Shock was loved before and now a new generation can play it, especially on console.
