Team Up With Rathalos In Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin

Mere minutes after developer Capcom revealed main series installment Monster Hunter Rise during the Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase event, it followed that announcement up with yet another – this one possibly even more surprising. TWO Monster Hunter titles announced in one day? And both for the Nintendo Switch? It couldn’t possibly be true – but yet, it is!

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is coming to the Nintendo Switch in summer 2021. It will presumably be a sequel to the 2017 3DS title Monster Hunter Stories. Like the first Stories game, this spin-off will focus around a central narrative and deal with a group of children and young adults residing in a village, and possess the ability to bond with and fight alongside the popular Rathalos monster. Rathalos, a frequently-faced foe in the main series, will here be a loyal ally who must be protected from predators and natural disasters which are threatening its home territory.

The first trailer for Wings of Ruin focused on story over gameplay. We saw the central characters protecting a Rathalos egg, learning of the destruction of Rathalos habitat, and ultimately discovering that a ferocious Anjanath may be responsible. The game features a gorgeous animated art style reminiscent of such titles as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as well as music that will probably be stuck in your head long after the direct is finished.

More information regarding Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will be revealed as the game’s release date draws closer in a years time. Monster Hunter Rise, on the other hand, is set to release March 26, 2021

Will you be grabbing either of these Monster Hunter Switch titles? Or can you not possibly choose and will be grabbing both as soon as they launch? Let us know in the comments below.
