The Past and the Furious: Ark 2 To Star Vin Diesel

Action-adventure survival title Ark: Survival Evolved is receiving a sequel – and while it might not be officially titled “2 Ark 2 Furious,” it might as well be. The 2020 Game Awards reveal trailer announced that actor and filmmaker Vin Diesel, best known for his role as Dominic Toretto in the Fast and the Furious film series, will be taking a leading role in the game, playing a character who seems to be not just voiced, but physically inspired by him.

The trailer didn’t reveal much, but it seems that Ark 2 will feature a similar survival-focused gameplay set on a prehistoric inspired world. The trailer certainly featured Vin Diesel fighting (and, unfortunately, ultimately running from) some pretty realistic looking dinos as he attempted to save an adorable child. While no official release date has been announced, developer Wasteland Studios has announced that more information will be coming in the near future. Keep an eye on the game’s official Twitter for news.

So far, they’ve shown off a few screenshots and confirmed that Diesel’s character is Santiago, an experienced hacker, warrior and leader of the Tek tribe.

In addition, Ark was also revealed to be receiving an animated series, which will focus on biologist Helena Walker as a principal character. Diesel will also appear in the animated series, presumably voicing Santiago once again. The announcement revealed a star-studded cast list, featuring names including David Tennant, Gerard Butler, Elliot Page, Madeleine Madden, Alan Tudyk, Karl Urban, Michelle Yeoh, and Russell Crow. Like Ark 2, no official release date has been confirmed for the animated series.
