The Witcher 3 Begins Physical PS5 and Xbox Series X Release This Week

Starting Jan. 26, CD Projekt Red will be releasing boxed copies of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to the latest generation of consoles. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X physical retail release will include the graphical upgrades from the recent new-gen update as well as all previous game expansions and new content based on the Netflix series.

The performance of The Witcher 3‘s new-generation update has been a rough spot for the game, with big improvements to visual flair coming at the cost of more inconsistent frame rates. A patch is expected to be released by CD Projekt Red sometime in the near future to smooth out some of the performance bugs holding the game back. Despite technical issues, The Witcher 3‘s story and world shine as one of the best RPG experiences to date for many, including the author of this post!

The physical box of the game does leave something to be desired, with the artwork of Geralt being surrounded by text and logos. Netflix even has their name featured twice on the cover, both with a written name and the logo being underlined to grab your attention. It may be considered a slight improvement over the art of the PlayStation 4 physical Game of the Year edition, which has Geralt stood in a white void.

The boxed rollout of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition begins in most major markets on Jan. 26, including the USA, UK, France, Germany, Spain and many more. Australia and New Zealand will follow on Jan. 27, with Japanese audiences only seeing a physical release on PS5 on Feb. 9 and a Brazilian release yet to be determined.
