Three Tomb Raider Titles Receiving Remaster

The first three titles in the classic Tomb Raider series, Tomb Raider 1-3, were announced during the September 13 Nintendo Direct event to be receiving remasters for the Nintendo Switch. Each game features iconic heroine Lara Croft adventuring through various mythology- and history-inspired settings to retrieve long-lost treasures. A later announcement from Sony also confirmed that all three remastered games are coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

The original Tomb Raider was released in 1996 for a variety of consoles including the PlayStation and Sega Saturn. Two sequels quickly followed in 1997 and 1998, going on to spawn a massive franchise that has encompassed several video games as well as movies and other media. The games received massive praise on release for their unique controls, action-heavy gameplay, and the memorable character of Lara – who has gone on to become a cultural icon.

Each game in Tomb Raider 1-3 Starring Lara Croft will give players the option to switch between new, remastered graphics and the classic polygonal style – Lara’s iconic pointy chest and all! All expansions and secret levels for each game will be included in the remaster at no additional cost. These include the “Unfinished Business,” “Gold Mask,” and “Lost Artifact” expansions, marking the first time that this content will be available on consoles. These level packs send Lara to an alien city, an abandoned mine shaft, and an ancient meteor in addition to the locations already present in the base games such as Peru, Venice, and more.

Players can enjoy exploring tombs and finding hidden secrets in Tomb Raider 1-3 Starring Lara Croft, releasing on February 14, 2024 – the perfect Valentine’s Day treat for any gamer! If you can’t wait until then, you can get your Tomb Raider fix by checking out a special Powerwash Simulator level that lets you clean out Lara’s rather dusty and cluttered mansion.
