With the latest success from video-game adaptions such as The Last of Us, The Witcher and Arcane, fans of the Tomb Raider franchise are already excited for this adaption, especially with a strong writer like Waller-Bridge at the helm. She rose to fame with her comedy-drama series Fleabag which ran from 2016 to 2019 and in which she wrote, produced and starred in. More recently, she was a writer for the latest James Bond movie, No Time to Die as well as being a producer for Killing Eve. Safe to say, she has a lot of experience under her belt – especially with strong female characters.
Although there are no further details about this Tomb Raider series, it is safe to say we will be seeing another actor tale on the role of the much-loved Lara Croft. Most recently, we saw this role taken by Alicia Vikander in the 2018 live-action adaption. With the movie receiving mixed reviews, a sequel was on the cards until MGM was bought by Amazon for $8.5 billion dollars. However, Angelina Jolie took on the role of Croft back in 2001 with the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider movie.
With Lara Croft being one of the most well-known video game characters, a lot of fans will be eager to see how she will be brought into 2023, especially with the help of Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
