For those grognards of a particularly nerdy bent (grognerds?), Creative Assembly will be releasing a new DLC pack for Total War: Warhammer II on May 21. Titled The Warden & The Paunch, the DLC gives players a new interwoven campaign involving the High Elves of the Kingdom of Yvresse squaring off against a Greenskin WAAAGH! which has invaded Ulthuan.
At the center of the conflict are the titular Legendary Lords, which players will be able to employ for the High Elf and Greenskin factions. Warlord Grom, better known as Grom The Paunch, holds the distinction of being the only Greenskin warlord to have the guts to invade the islands of Ulthuan. With an indomitable will and a WAAAGH! spoiling for a fight, he’s reached the High Elves’ homeland, and he’s not leaving. The only thing standing between him and complete victory is Eltharion, Prince of Yvresse. A paragon among his people, a living legend that lives up to the legend, Eltharion has committed himself and his forces to defending his kingdom and exacting a terrible vengeance against the Greenskins for the audacity of setting foot on Ulthuan’s soil.
Players will also be getting a second Legendary Lord for the High Elves, Imrik of Caledor, to help in their efforts to defend Ulthuan from the Greenskin hordes. New hero units for both sides appear, with the Arch Mage for the High Elves and the Giant River Troll Hag for the Greenskins, as well as new regular units such as Rogue Idols, the Arcane Phoenix and the War Lions of Chrace. Finally, the DLC introduces several quality-of-life updates, primarily focused around the Greenskin faction and their WAAGH! mechanics, as well as chariot mounts and several other systems.
Total War: Warhammer II is currently available on PC via Steam.
