Players Can Customize Breasts, Butt, and Genitals in Cyberpunk 2077

The latest news on CD Projekt RED’s upcoming futuristic RPG Cyberpunk 2077 is sure to get a “rise” out of fans — and I’m not talking about the mysterious tweet hinting that more news is coming on June 11, which we previously covered.

No, it’s time to talk about butt builders and dong sliders.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been officially rated by the ESRB. Unsurprisingly, the title received an “M” for “Mature,” citing blood, violence, drugs, foul language, and sexual content. What did “come” as a surprise, however, was this line describing character customization options:

“Players can select a gender and customize their character; customization can include depictions of breasts, buttocks, and genitalia, as well as various sizes and combinations of genitals.”

The idea of customizable breasts and genitals in gaming is not entirely new —infamously, Conan Exile featured a “dong slider,” allowing players to determine the length of their penis. However, the ESRB’s description seemingly indicates that Cyberpunk will enable far more detailed options and choices.

Earlier in the game’s development, Projekt RED moved away from binary gender for the player character, “V.” Instead, players will be able to focus on body shape and physical elements to include or leave off. The language in the rating description is consistent with this decision, with the use of the word “combinations,” implying that, when it comes to genitalia, players will also be able to move beyond the gender binary.

In addition to the reference to genital customization, descriptions of sexual content make up a surprisingly large chunk of the ESRB’s rating explanation. The statement reads:

“Players can encounter events where they have the option to engage in sexual activities with other main characters or prostitutes—these brief sex scenes (from a first-person perspective) depict partially nude characters moaning suggestively while moving through various positions. Some scenes contain brief depictions of thrusting motions; other scenes depict a character’s head moving towards a partner’s crotch.”

Note that this is near twice the length of the ESRB’s description of sexual scenes in CD Projekt RED’s previous major release, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, which simply mentions that “breasts and buttocks of women are in view.” It seems that the developer, already infamous for its significant inclusion of sexual content in its titles, has taken things a step further in Cyberpunk 2077.

It is unknown whether the new information coming June 11 will include any updates about genital customization. For now, we can only hope
