The second wave of the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Expansion Pass was announced during the Nintendo Direct livestream event on September 13, 2022. A new hero, Ino, will be added to the game. Players who purchase the Expansion Pass can complete Ino’s character quest in order to add her to their party. Ino will come with new classes, skills, and battle strategies – in the trailer, she is shown in the new Noponic Champion class. She is a mechanical-looking character who is apparently searching for High Ether for reasons that currently remain unknown.

Also coming in Wave 2 of the Expansion Pass are Challenge Battles, a series of fights against consecutive waves of high-difficulty enemies. Players will be able to take on these challenges and earn a variety of new items, including accessories and costumes for the playable characters. One set of costumes, Swimwear, was briefly shown off during the trailer. It seems that players will have to earn a rank of A on various Challenge Battles in order to unlock the Swimwear costumes.

Wave 2 is the second of four waves of planned DLC for Xenoblade Chronicles 3. The first, which debuted shortly after the game’s official release, included color-swapped versions of certain outfits and helpful items geared towards assisting players just getting started on their journey. The upcoming Wave 3 will reportedly include another new hero, who was briefly teased during the Nintendo Direct event, while the fourth and final wave will include new story content. The DLC for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 costs $30 USD for all four Volumes. Individual Volumes cannot be purchased separately.

Volume 2 of the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Expansion Pass will release on October 14, 2022. The Expansion Pass is currently available to purchase via the Nintendo Switch eShop. Purchasing the full version of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is required in order to purchase and use the Expansion Pass.
