One of the most iconic moments of E3 2019 was at the Microsoft’s Xbox Press Conference with the reveal of actor Keanu Reeves playing a role in Cyberpunk 2077. Reeves’ breathtaking presentation had stolen the Internet’s heart. The question on players’ minds would they be able to steal the heart of Reeves’ character, legendary punk rocker, Johnny Silverhand?
The possibility of the romance was shut down by level designer, Max Pears in an interview with Video Game Chronicle. Pears told VGC, “Keanu plays a crucial role in the game, but as for the option to romance him, I don’t believe you can.” The Internet mourns.
Cyberpunk 2077 will also include aspects of gender fluidity in the character customization, where players will be able to mix and match gender voices and body type but the genitalia would be determined by the body type. There will also be fully nude sex scenes. Still, sadly, no Keanu.
“We really want to make sure players get the representation that they want. In the genre of Cyberpunk as well, it asks such deep questions about what it means to be human, let alone what it means to define your gender. Having that customization match how you feel is your representation of how you feel… it’s important for us and it’s important to the lore of this world too.”
Cyberpunk 2077 releases on April 16, 2020, on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
