Every Thursday we share the weekly Famitsu sales charts, which tracks physical boxed game sales and hardware sales in Japan. This week’s chart covers May 19 – 25, as the massively popular Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time secures an impressive top spot debut. Thanks to almost 83,000 units sold on Switch, The Girl Who Steals Time was easily able to take #1, and push down Mobile Suit Gundam Seed: Battle Destiny Remastered to #2 on the chart.
This is a great opening for Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, with its PS5 release also charting at #3 and selling over 10,000 copies. Combined across platforms, Level-5’s latest and greatest cozy game managed to sell over 93,000 units. This brings it closer to the 134,000 copies the original game sold on 3DS. With digital gaming being an increasingly popular method to purchase games which does not contribute towards Famitsu, it’s highly likely that Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time may have managed to outperform the original globally, given its success.
