Donkey Kong Bananza: What Every Amiibo Unlocks

It’s almost time for Nintendo’s next big platforming adventure, as Donkey Kong Bananza is rapidly swinging towards us. Whether you’re already playing it as you read this article, or you’re still counting down the minutes until launch, you may be wondering – what can I do with all my amiibo in Donkey Kong Bananza?

We’re going to break down exactly what every single amiibo unlocks in Donkey Kong Bananza, from the latest Donkey Kong and Pauline figure all the way back to the earliest run of Super Smash Bros. amiibo and everything in between. Get your collection ready for scanning and read on, it’s time to go bananas.

The Donkey Kong and Pauline amiibo

You can unlock a new Pauline outfit early with the Donkey Kong and Pauline amiibo.

Let’s start with the newest amiibo figurine, which is the Donkey Kong and Pauline amiibo that was released to coincide with the launch of Donkey Kong Bananza. Scanning this brand new amiibo will unlock the Diva Dress for Pauline immediately after scanning. The Diva Dress will be a highly sought after item, as wearing it doubles the chance of finding Discs when defeating enemies – because of course Pauline knows how to find the music!

Don’t worry if you haven’t had the chance to buy the new Donkey Kong and Pauline amiibo though, as the Diva Dress is not exclusive to the amiibo. You will get the chance to unlock the dress at some point in Donkey Kong Bananza just by playing the game, it’s only a bonus early opportunity for those who do make the purchase for the new amiibo.

Donkey Kong series amiibo

A classic reference, now with more destructive abilities…

Beyond (but still including) the Donkey Kong and Pauline amiibo, an exclusive reward will be granted for all other Donkey Kong-related amiibo. This includes Donkey and Diddy Kong’s Smash Bros. and Mario Party amiibo, King K. Rool’s Smash Bros. amiibo and the Donkey/Diddy Kong Power-Up Bands from Super Nintendo World.

For scanning these amiibo, four golden KONG tiles will appear, referencing the classic collectibles from the Rare games of old. However, these KONG letters have a special power, because they’re hugely explosive! Each letter can be thrown once, where it will cause a huge explosion on impact with another surface, which will be a helpful boost when you’re causing chaos to Donkey Kong Bananza’s destructible environment on the hunt for Banandium Gems.

All other amiibo

A variety of material spheres can be obtained by scanning your other amiibo.

So that’s all the Donkey Kong series amiibo covered, but what about the rest? Well, I’m happy to say that a reward is granted for using any amiibo from any series! Yes, whether it’s from Splatoon, Animal Crossing, Pokémon or anywhere else, your amiibo will scan in Donkey Kong Bananza and get you a reward.

The unlockable items provided by these non-Donkey Kong amiibo are a bit less flashy, but still very handy. Scanning any of your amiibo from other franchises will drop a giant sphere into the game, with the spheres sometimes being made of different materials. This can actually be quite helpful, as sometimes you’ll get an explosive sphere with the power to smash through harder surfaces, whereas other times you may get a sphere of ice in a lava-filled cave, giving you a means to remove the environmental hazard and find your way through with a new path.
