Amazon Restores Relationship With Nintendo Following Switch 2 Success

Amazon had a turbulent relationship with Nintendo over the last year or so. Whilst neither party has made official comments on it, it has been something of an open secret in the industry. Nintendo’s first-party releases were not available to preorder from Amazon US, starting with Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door Switch game pre-orders which were cancelled before launch as Nintendo revoked Amazon’s access to their stock. However, Nintendo just had the fastest selling console launch in history, and it appears that with it comes a restoration of Amazon’s relationship with Nintendo.

Starting late last night, Amazon has began to list pre-orders for first-party upcoming Switch 2 games, such as Donkey Kong Bananza and the Switch 2 Editions of Super Mario Party Jamboree and Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Whilst they aren’t selling any Switch 2 consoles just yet, if this is the sign of a repaired relationship like it seems to be, we’re sure it’s only a matter of time before Amazon begin to stock the record-breaking console.

Amazon are now stocking some Switch 2 titles for pre-order, such as Super Mario Party Jamboree Switch 2 Edition.

The fractured relations between the gaming giant and the world’s biggest online marketplace allegedly started due to Amazon sending games out too early and breaking their street dates. These games being sent out so early also coincided with leaks and dumps of the games’ contents online, and we know Nintendo hates leaks. As such, they took action. It appears this must have been somehow worked out with Amazon now, and the Switch 2 will have its games more accessible to more people through the online marketplace.

Were you affected by Amazon’s removal of Nintendo products, and will you be returning to them for any of your Switch 2 purchases now? Let us know in the comments down below, and keep your eyes on GameLuster for more breaking gaming news and Nintendo Switch 2 coverage.
