Animal Crossing: New Horizons Celebrates Season of Festivale & Love

Outside, the weather may be grim and gray – but on the tropical island of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a bright swirl of color is coming to brighten up the season! The popular island life simulator, which is currently available for the Nintendo Switch, has recently announced its newest upcoming event in the form of the Carnival-inspired “Festivale”.

The free Festivale update drops on January 28, with the actual event beginning in mid-February. However, you can get started on your celebration early with special Festivale items available to purchase starting on February 1st.

The Able Sisters will begin selling Festivale-themed outfits in their store, so you can deck yourself out in glitter and feathers to celebrate the most colorful event of the year. Nook’s Cranny will also be selling the limited time Festivale Reaction set, which includes four poses: Confetti, Feelin’ It, Let’s Go and Viva.

When the event itself kicks off, Pave the dancing peacock will arrive on your Island. Use your Net to catch different colored feathers floating around your island. Then, trade the feathers to Pave in exchange for special dances. What sort of dance could the ultra-rare Rainbow Feather possibly unlock? Plus, if the dance fever catches you, you can always invite your friends over to your island and all experience the Festivale dance together!

However, Festivale is far from the only thing to celebrate this month. Nook’s Cranny will also be selling chocolate hearts and heart bouquets from February 1st through February 14th. Purchase these and gift them to your favorite villagers or players to show them how much you love them! Other limited items related to the Groundhog Day and Big Game Day events are also planned to be sold at Nook’s Cranny in the near future.

The Festivale event video concludes by revealing that the next New Horizons update will be coming sometime in March. The appearance of a star and a mushroom in the video hints that the update may have something to do with the ongoing 35th anniversary celebration for the Super Mario series.

Are you excited to shake your tail feathers during Festivale? What do you think might be in store for the possible Mario-themed update? Let us know!
