Apple’s App Store Has Left Fortnite Waiting 100 Hours To Return

Fortnite is set to once again return to the App Store of Apple’s iOS devices, after almost five years away during an epic (no pun intended) legal battle. After a ruling that told Apple they can’t collect fees on purchases made outside of the App Store, Epic Games responded by finally submitting Fortnite back onto the App Store, now being fully compliant with Apple’s altered rules following the brutal five year court case. There’s only one issue though – Apple is taking forever to approve the game.

Most apps are typically reviewed for approval within two days of submission, but Epic Games submitted Fortnite for review on May 9, and here we are four days later still waiting for an update. In total, it has now been around 100 hours. This is unprecedentedly slow, and a sure sign of Apple dragging its feet in approving the game behind the giant legal battle that resulted in them needing to concede some of their former App Store practices.

When asked for an update, Epic Games founder and CEO Tim Sweeney said there is “no news” as of today, leaving Fortnite stuck in the purgatory of Apple’s App Store review process. When Fortnite does finally come back, iPhone players, along with all Fortnite gamers, will be treated to 20% cashback when paying with Epic’s payment system all the way through until August 31. This Epic Rewards deal will also work with Rocket League and Fall Guys purchases.

We’ll be sure to provide another update when Fortnite does finally return to the App Store on Apple’s iPhone and iPad devices. Are you looking forward to dropping back onto the Fortnite island on your iOS device, and if not, are you still glad to see Apple made to change its business practices?
