Every Thursday we share the weekly Famitsu sales charts, which tracks physical boxed game sales and hardware sales in Japan. This week’s chart is a massive catch-up, as it covers April 21 – May 4. It has been quite a while since the last Famitsu update, as the Golden Week celebrations in Japan disrupted its release.
We’re back, and that two week period was dominated by The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-, a tactical turn-based RPG from Too Kyo games, in which 15 students need to survive and defend a school for 100 days from monsters. It was received well critically, and sold over 26,000 units in the sales period tracking two weeks.
Coming in at second place is the ever-popular Super Mario Party Jamboree, which sold 15,000 copies in the same two weeks. Surprisingly high next is Minecraft at #3 with more than 12,000 sales, whilst the hugely popular Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sold just short of 10,000 copies. This puts it at #4, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe very close behind at #5.
