A new interview with Jonathan Dumont, the creative director of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, has been shared online by gaming commentator Genki, and it’s got some new information scattered throughout. Perhaps the most interesting though is exactly how long the game will be, as the main story of Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to be 30-40 hours long, but taking over 80 hours to complete all side content. It looks like fans will need to clear their schedules then, because that’s a lot of gaming!
This puts Assassin’s Creed Shadows in a similar area to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in terms of playtime, with the main story of that game taking roughly 45 hours, and side content bumping that up to 85 hours according to How Long To Beat. With the team behind Shadows being the same team as was behind Odyssey, this isn’t entirely surprising, but it’s good to know to plan ahead our gaming time!
Genki’s interview with Dumont also sheds light on the inspiration behind Assassin’s Creed Shadows, along with other topics such as addressing the controversy the game has seen online – and how the development team try and use that to encourage them to deliver in the final game. It seems Ubisoft have a lot of confidence in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and it’s a much-needed hit for them in the current gaming environment. We’ll see later this month exactly how the latest in the Assassin’s Creed series performs!
