Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Is The Series’ Biggest Launch Ever

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s launch was the most successful across the entire franchise, selling more copies within its first week than any other game from the series. Better yet, Valhalla became Ubisoft’s biggest launch on PC too.

In a press release, Ubisoft’s Julien Laferrière, a producer on Valhalla said that they were “truly delighted by the enthusiastic response from players and want to thank the fans for their incredible support.”

They described the task of producing a game during a global pandemic as “a true tour de force by our teams and it’s fantastic to see players enjoying the game so much,”

Laferrière adds: “Launch is only the beginning and we have robust content plans for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla that will keep players immersed in their epic Viking saga for a long time to come.”

The statement further outlined some key game stats from Valhalla. Players have traveled more than four million kilometers, built over 55 million settlements, winning over 3.5 million Orlog dice games, and more than 1.8 million drinking games.

As previously reported, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla further beat Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War to the top of the UK physical charts. This means that Valhalla has sold not only twice as many copies as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey back in 2018, but has stolen Call of Duty’s No.1 spot for the first time in 13 years.

42% of Valhalla’s physical sales came from PlayStation 4, with another 18% accounting for PlayStation 5. As for the remaining 40% recorded for Xbox, Ubisoft sold one ‘Xbox’ SKU for all platforms, which included the Xbox One. This makes it hard to pinpoint which platform sold best.

Last week, top UK internet providers experienced record broadband usages due to a wave of new Xbox consoles, titles, and large updates. Among them was an 8GB day one update for physical copies of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now on the PS4, PS5, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, S and Xbox One, Stadia, and PC.
