Baldur’s Gate 3: How To Get Moon Lantern

During Act 2 in Baldur’s Gate 3, you must venture into the dangerous Shadow Cursed Lands. Although you can be relatively safe in this area by having a light source, you need a Moon Lantern to traverse the deepest parts of the lands. Unfortunately, this useful tool is very rare, and you can only get two of them in the game. Luckily, this guide can tell you how to obtain a Moon Lantern in Baldur’s Gate 3.

You can get a Moon Lantern by completing the Seek Protection from the Shadow Curse side quest. This mission will become available if you talk to Harper Branthus after beating Flaming Fist Marcus in the Last Light Inn. During this quest, you will need to lay an ambush on a group of Absolute’s followers who are journeying through the Shadow Cursed Lands.

You can obtain the Moon Lantern by beating Kar’niss in a fight or convincing him to give it to you. Once you get the item, you will be able to speak with the Pixie trapped inside the lantern. I recommend setting Dolly Dolly Dolly free since she’ll give you the Filigreed Feywild Bell.

You can use this item to gain protection from the Shadow Curse until the next Long Rest. If you need to get the blessing again, you just need to right-click the object in your inventory and select the Use option.

The second Moon Lantern is located inside Balthazar’s room in the Moonrise Towers. To safely enter this chamber, you need to convince Disciple Z’rell that you’re a devoted True Soul. If you pass the test, she’ll give you the key to Balthazar’s bedroom, and you can use it to claim the Moon Lantern beside the table.

However, unlike the previous Moon Lantern, you cannot free the Pixie trapped inside. It can only be used as a source of light that will drive back the Shadow Curse.
