The sequel to Blasphemous was revealed during today’s Nintendo Indie World Showcase. Blasphemous 2 is set to launch in Summer 2023 and it promises a hack-and-slash adventure like never before.
It has been quite some time since developers The Game Kitchen announced they were working on the gothic action-platformer sequel. Now, the long-awaited Blaphemous 2 is set for a Summer launch, and the trailer is looking epic. With the original title releasing back in 2019, the critically acclaimed game has amassed a ton of players. With news of the 2D Metroidvania-meets-Souls style game launching on PC and Nintendo Switch, it’s safe to say fans are excited.

In a world of religious iconography, terrifying monsters and a land ravaged by a curse known as ‘The Miracle,’ Blasphemous 2 is set to be as terrifying as its predecessor. However, with the sequel promising three new weapons, players will at least be able to try and defend themselves. The War Sensor is a slow but powerful mace-like weapon, the Rapier and Dagger are lightning fast and finally, the Praying Blade has “vicious and versatile combos.” Furthermore, by unlocking each weapon’s memories, you can learn even more moves!
You play as The Penitent One as he returns for another adventure that continues on from the free ‘Wounds of Eventide’ downloadable content that came with the original game. It was there that it was foretold: the birth of a miracle child and the Heart in the sky that heralded the return of The Miracle. The Penitent One, now awakened in a strange new land, must travel through the endless cycle of life, death and resurrection in a perilous new world.
With a non-linear experience, you can explore this new world however you like – but make sure to show no mercy when you come up against the many twisted bosses. Customise your playthrough by upgrading your skillsets, interact with an abundance of interesting NPCs, and uncover long forgotten items all in Blasphemous 2. You can grab your copy when it releases late Summer 2023 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
