It might be Activision Blizzard’s worst-kept secret in recent memory, but at long last, the developer has confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will be coming on November 10, 2023. The release date was announced earlier this evening (August 7), with a special teaser trailer to mark the moment. The announcement followed weeks of leaks and speculation that all but confirmed a third Modern Warfare title would be on the way. You can watch the trailer below.
Since we’ve only reached August, the studio is holding back on revealing gameplay footage. Instead, we see glimpses of some familiar faces – including Captain Price and Vladimir Makarov, graphics of red spikes and a skull and snakes, with Price’s chilling warning to “never bury your enemies alive.”
Vladimir Makarov was the main antagonist from the original Modern Warfare 3, confirming that this light reboot and final entry in the new Modern Warfare series will reintroduce another iteration of the villain, but one no less ruthless than the original. The final scene of Modern Warfare II saw a commercial plane hijacked by Russian ultranationalists, including a Makarov name drop.
The above reference to “burying enemies alive” comes from Philip Graves, suggesting that he survived the events of Modern Warfare II and will make a return in the threequel. The 141, it’s fair to say, will have their work cut out for them as they go up against multiple enemies in the trilogy closer.
We can expect a worldwide reveal of the title at an undisclosed date (likely later in August) in Warzone, so once we know more, we’ll keep you updated. Keeping with the theme of good news, Call Of Duty’s multiplayer modes will bring back dogs. Yes. These adorable critters will help you on the battlefield.
