Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Update Includes 15GB Data Pack

On Tuesday, April 28, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will receive its latest update. This update will be rolled out for both console versions: PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Reportedly, the patch will include a hefty 15GB data pack. Downloading the pack, according to developer Infinity Ward, will be mandatory for players to continue enjoying Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Instructions for downloading the patch’s data pack are included in a blog post made by Infinity Ward on April 24. The explanation reads as follows:

“Once you install the patch and select a mode (multiplayer, campaign, Special Operations, etc.), you will be brought to a game install menu. Here, you’ll need to download Data Pack 1 from this menu. Once the download is complete, you will need to hard close and reopen the game application.”

Complete patch notes are expected to be released after the update goes live. However, Infinity Ward’s blog post also features a sneak peek at some of the bug fixes and quality of life improvements which the data pack will contain. These include adjusting the speed and sizing of the circle in Warzone, correcting an error that did not allow some players to select their favorite Faction, and repairing the glitched appearance of some character skins.

The update will also be followed by a behind-the-scenes Developer Diary, which will be released on Thursday, April 30.

With the addition of the newest data pack, the total size of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will reach over 175 GB. Make sure you’ve got plenty of space on your console if you want to keep enjoying the popular shooter!

Finally, the update will also feature the implementation of Infinity Ward’s new anti-cheating mechanisms. This includes an adjusted matchmaking algorithm that will pair suspected cheaters with one another, as well as confirmation of banning for players who have reported experiencing cheating in their matches. Read more about this here.

We’ll be sure to update you with even more details once this rather large but still highly anticipated patch drops tomorrow!
