The 2020 remake of Resident Evil 3, released on April 2 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, has been wowing fans and receiving generally favorable reviews from critics. Following their successful release, developer Capcom has decided to seek fan feedback regarding the possibility of future remakes.
An official survey regarding Resident Evil 3 was released on Capcom Asia’s website. Although the survey is available in English, it is targeted at an Asian market, with the other available languages being Japanese, Chinese, and Korea.
The simple survey mostly seeks to gather data regarding participants’ interest in the Resident Evil 3 remake and the Resident Evil franchise as a whole. Respondents are asked to list which previous titles in the series they have purchased, as well as share their reasons for either purchasing or not purchasing the remake. I did notice; however, when I took the survey for myself, that “COVID-19 pandemic” was not given as an option for “Reason you haven’t yet purchased this game.”
However, two questions on the survey indicate that Capcom is seeking input regarding potential future entries into the franchise. The survey asks both “If a new remake of the ‘Resident Evil’ series is released, would you like to purchase?” and “If a sequel of ‘Resident Evil’ series is released, would you like to purchase?” Available responses allow you to differentiate between willingness to purchase a new console to play Resident Evil and only being interested if the game releases for a console you already own.
Unfortunately, the survey does not allow you to specify which Resident Evil titles you would like to see remade. Presumably, Capcom is next considering a remake of either 3’s direct follow-up Resident Evil: Code Veronica or the next main series installment Resident Evil 4. While 4 has been re-released for modern consoles, neither has ever been remade.
Capcom’s survey is available to complete until May 31, 2020. Respondents will receive a free Resident Evil 3 Remake wallpaper for PC and smartphone. You can take the survey here.
