Cities: Skylines 2 Revealed At Paradox Announcement Show 2023

It’s finally here! Paradox Interactive has announced a sequel to Colossal Order’s 2015 city-builder Cities: Skylines. The sequel, Cities: Skylines II will release later this year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. There won’t be a last gen release, as Paradox aims to make the most of current gen hardware. For those subscribed to Xbox Game Pass, the game will be available day one on the service.

The first look at Cities: Skylines II came in the form of a dramatic cinematic trailer, giving us a timelapse of a beautiful (pre-rendered) city being created. The website was also released, which promises “deep simulation and a living economy” that will challenge players to make decisions for what’s best in their city. Colossal Order describes it as “the most realistic city builder – ever”, with more details to come at another time.

It has been eight years since the launch of the first Cities: Skylines. The reveal of the sequel was introduced with a montage of Cities: Skylines content creators, to celebrate their anniversary with the game and show some love to the fan base. That’s all we have to share about Cities: Skylines II for now, but we’ll be sure to bring updates as they come.

Also at the showcase, Paradox announced a new turn-based tactical combat adventure called The Lamplighters League, as well as a life simulator game from The Sims legend Rod Humble. Be sure to check our our news coverage page here for all the details.
