Paradox Announces The Lamplighters League, A New Tactical Combat Game

It’s the Paradox Announcement Show 2023, and Paradox Interactive is showcasing everything we have to look forward to from the company. A new turn-based tactical adventure game has been announced to release later this year, named The Lamplighters League and the Tower at the End of the World. It will be an Xbox console exclusive, also available on PC, and part of Game Pass. The game is developed by Harebrained Schemes, the team behind BattleTech, a 2018 turn-based strategy game.

Forces of evil are after the source of all magic in the fictional world, so a ragtag group of misfits must band together to save the world. Whilst it does feature turn-based tactical combat, it also has a real-time scouting mode to explore the area before taking out the enemies. The game is set in 1932, and the reveal highlighted the characters and the ways in which they interact.

Players can use their agents to engage with the environment, using parts of the land as hazards for your enemies. Some agents and their abilities are seen in the gameplay first look of the game, such as the pistol-wielding Lateef with sneaking abilities, the dual-wielding Eddie and his saboteur skills, or Jianyi and his swords. In total, ten agents can be seen in the trailer. That’s all the details we have for now, so check out the full gameplay preview above!

Also at the showcase, Paradox announced the long-awaited Cities: Skylines II, as well as a brand new life sim game, with input from from The Sims 2‘s Rod Humble. Be sure to check our our news coverage page here for all the details.
