Classic Metal Gear And Castlevania Games Now Available On PC

As part of their presentation at the all-virtual 2020 edition of Tokyo Game Show, publisher Konami has revealed that a number of its beloved classic titles will now be available for PC via GOG.com. This gives gamers an exciting opportunity to experience beloved favorites which may have become otherwise difficult to access in recent years.

Rumors regarding these games’ potential release began to spread around the Internet a few days ago, when ratings for PC versions of the original Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2 began to appear on various sites. Today, the rumors were proved true with a joint announcement made by both Konami and GOG.com

The games available to play via GOG include the original 1987 stealth-action title Metal Gear, the very first entry in the popular franchise of the same name, as well as two of its follow-up titles, 1998’s Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, the expanded version of the original 2001 Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. You can learn all about the origins of Solid Snake and his enemies and allies in these classic titles.

If you prefer a different series with a fantasy twist instead, Konami is also offering a five-game bundle entitled Konami Collector’s Series: Castlevania & Contra (why they didn’t go for the catchy nickname “C&C,” we will perhaps never know). The 8-bit classics included in this collection are Castlevania, Castlevania 2: Simon’s Quest, Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse, Contra, and Super C. The original trilogy of Castlevania games introduce players to the Belmont family, including noted vampire hunter (and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter) Simon Belmont, while Contra chronicles the adventures of an elite squad of soldiers living on a futuristic version of Earth.

All five games have been updated to support modern PC hardware and are available to purchase on GOG.com beginning today.
