Cloud Saves Will be Backed Up for Six Months After Unsubscribing to the Switch Online Service

Nintendo has confirmed that cloud saves through the Switch Online service will be recoverable even after unsubscribing.

In a statement to IGN, a Nintendo spokesperson confirmed that if someone’s Nintendo Switch Online subscription ends for any reason, they will be able to recover their cloud saves after resubscribing within 180 days (six months).

“If a Nintendo Switch Online membership expires, users won’t be able to access their Save Data Cloud backups,” stated the spokesperson. “However, Nintendo will allow users who resubscribe within 180 days to access their previous Save Cloud Data backups.”

Cloud saves for the Switch through the Online service were announced earlier this year. While a majority of the console’s library will support cloud saves, there are several that will not be able to use the feature. It has been announced that some titles, such as Splatoon 2 and the Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee titles, will not allow cloud saves.
