Disco Elysium: Final Cut Coming to Next-Gen Consoles

Quirky role-playing game Disco Elysium delivered an absolutely stunning performance at last year’s Game Awards, winning a number of awards, including Best Narrative, Best Independent Game, and Best Role-Playing Game. In honor of their triumph last year, developer ZA/UM chose the 2020 edition of the Game Awards to make a huge announcement regarding the future of their beloved game: Disco Elysium: Final Cut.

Disco Elysium Final Cut is currently available for pre-order. It will be a free upgrade for existing players, and will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, and Google Stadia. A Nintendo Switch release is currently planned for summer 2021.

Disco Elysium: The Final Cut Collector’s Edition is coming to PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox in Summer 2021. It comes with a number of bonus extras, including two 3XLPs of the game’s score as performed by British Sea Power. In addition, a Disco Elysium TV series is currently in development. No new information was revealed at the Game Awards, but more news is expected sometime in early 2021.

Disco Elysium takes place in a bizarre world called Elysium, and stars a detective by the name of Harry DuBois. Harry must investigate a killing which involves a number of groups including the striking dockworker’s union, the town’s vigilante defenders, drug dealers, mercenaries, and more. The game is unique in its exploration of a variety of real-world ideologies as well as containing areas within the world where the laws of reality break down, causing a number of unusual effects. It is a choice-based role-playing game in which the player’s choices matter and affect the flow of the story and even the ultimate solution to the game’s central mystery.
