Our first Nintendo Direct since the Switch 2 launch has been announced via the Nintendo Today app, and it’s a big one! Coming this Wednesday on June 18, Donkey Kong Bananza will receive an entire dedicated Nintendo Direct at 6 AM PT, that’s 9 AM ET, 2 PM BST and 3 PM CEST on Nintendo’s YouTube channel. Releasing next month, the latest Donkey Kong game is set to be a big hit for the Switch 2, and we’re overdue another look since we last saw it in the Switch 2 reveal showcase.
The reveal was first shared on Nintendo’s news sharing app Nintendo Today with just the date, but we’ve now got confirmation of its length and air time. Just like the dedicated Mario Kart World Direct, we’ll be getting around 15 minutes showing new game footage and detailing more how the general flow of gameplay will go in Donkey Kong Bananza. We loved the game when we tried it at Nintendo’s Switch 2 Experience in London.
There’s a lot of eyes on Donkey Kong Bananza for a variety of reasons. Firstly, it’s the next big Switch 2 launch title after the record-breaking Mario Kart World, and it’s the only 3D platformer offering that we’ve had revealed. Instead of going straight to the conventional 3D Super Mario release, Nintendo instead has opted to give Donkey Kong his first new outing in 3D in decades, and hopefully help gaming’s most iconic ape find a new generation of fans, and secure himself more new games too.
