Dragon Quest XI S: Definitive Edition Coming to Xbox One and Game Pass

The latest installment of Square Enix’s genre-defining RPG series is making its debut for the Xbox One console. The Definitive Edition of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age will be available on December 4, 2020. It will also be available starting the same day via Xbox Game Pass for both Console and PC. This marks the first time that ANY Dragon Quest game has appeared on an Xbox console.

Since its 2018 worldwide release, Dragon Quest XI has made its way to several consoles. Currently, it is available to play via the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC, and the Definitive Edition will also become purchasable via Steam later this year. This is an impressive showing for the game, especially as Dragon Quest titles have traditionally struggled in the West; outside its native Japan, the series is generally considered to be less popular than other RPGs such as Final Fantasy.

Echoes of an Elusive Age tells the story of the Luminary, a young man from the small village of Cobbleston who discovers that he is the fabled hero of legend. He teams up with a cast of eclectic companions –  including a mysterious martial artist, a grumpy thief, and a world-renowned entertainer — to defeat the darkness plaguing his beloved homeland. This epic adventure is one of the most critically acclaimed RPG titles of the past several years.

The Definitive Edition includes four exclusive side stories starring the Luminary’s companions Jade, Rab, Erik, and Sylvando. It also adds several new quests in the form of Tickington, a beautiful 2D world that allows players to revisit previous Dragon Quest titles and complete quests alongside beloved characters. Plus, it’s not just Tickington that can be experienced in 2D — owners of the Definitive Edition can switch between 2D and 3D graphics options at any point during the game! Finally, don’t forget to pause to take some gorgeous shots of your characters with the all-new Photo Mode.

This title is completely stand-alone, so it can be played without any prior knowledge of the Dragon Quest series. Grab your copy for Xbox One this December!
