Famitsu Chart: Tamagotchi Plaza Debuts With Over 100K Sales

Every Thursday we share the weekly Famitsu sales charts, which tracks physical boxed game sales and hardware sales in Japan. This week’s chart covers June 23 – 29, as Mario Kart World once again takes the top spot, thanks to over 145,000 additional sales this week. That’s actually almost 20% up from last week, which also coincides with a rise in Switch 2 sales. Each restock likely also coincides with a lot of Mario Kart World purchases, so we’re expecting it to remain in the top 10 for a long time.

Perhaps more surprisingly, Tamagotchi Plaza also managed to sell over 100,000 copies on the Switch, with an additional 26,000 copies sold for the physical Switch 2 Edition. Combined, they sold a little under 130,000 units in their debut week, which is a massive debut for a Tamagotchi game. We also see new appearances from Death Stranding 2 on PS5, which sold 72,000 copies, along with Xuan-Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains selling 18,000 units on Switch, and a surprise re-appearance of the Castlevania Anniversary Collection, selling 13,000 copies.
