Famitsu: Super Mario Party Jamboree Makes Surprise Comeback

Every Thursday we share the weekly Famitsu sales charts, which tracks physical boxed game sales and hardware sales in Japan. This week’s chart covers Nov. 25 – Dec. 1, as Super Mario Party Jamboree makes a surprise return to the top spot. The latest in the Mario Party series took first place thanks to over 56,000 sales, which is more than a 60% surge from last week’s 34,000 units sold.

As Super Mario Party Jamboree rose however, Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake continued to slip in sales. The game sold explosive numbers out of the gate, but stock constraints and its giant opening leave Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake slowly falling down the charts, with a 50% drop combined average for the PS5 and Switch versions.

The holiday season, like most in Japan lately, certainly seems to be going Nintendo’s way, with a huge 91,000 Nintendo Switch consoles sold (last year had 79,000), and nine of the top 10 charting games are from the Switch.
