Far Cry 4 Surprise Update Just Added 60fps Support On PS5

Despite launching over ten years ago, Ubisoft just added a surprise update to their iconic PS4 title Far Cry 4. The update lifts the frame rate cap placed on the PS4 version, allowing the PS5 to run the game at a solid 60fps, giving a smoother experience to anyone who wants to try out perhaps the most famous Far Cry title for the first time, or the fans that want to revisit it.

It seems a similar update will be coming to Xbox, as Far Cry 4 previously supported FPS Boost on Xbox Series X|S, but has now had the option removed. Whilst the patch isn’t out for Xbox yet, we imagine the FPS Boost disabling was intentional, as the patch gets pushed through for approval and adds 60fps support to Microsoft’s console too.

You can now experience the action of Far Cry 4 smoother than ever on PS5 – and probably Xbox soon too.

The timing of this update is no coincidence, as Far Cry 4 comes to Game Pass this week. It’s refreshing to see Ubisoft go out of its way to make the console performance of the game better to coincide with its Xbox and PC Game Pass launch, and even better that they did the same for PlayStation users. We can only hope they keep the trend up, and work back through more of their classic library and enhance their frame rate options for current day consoles. Maybe Far Cry 3 next… please?
