Farm 18 Beta Map Revealed For Modern Warfare II

Infinity Ward has revealed a brand-new multiplayer map coming to Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II ahead of an exclusive reveal event in September. Following a report from Gamespot, the map – titled Farm 18 – set within an abandoned industrial cement factory, was inspired by the Shoot House map in 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Compared to its predecessor – Farm 18 will be bigger in scale and at the heart of the map – includes a section that serves as a faithful throwback to the Shoot House map. In a behind-the-scenes clip seen further below, multiplayer designer Geoff Smith said if “you really want to play that crazy game, you go to the center and that action will find you, if you want to pull back and play a different way, it’s still available to you.”

Senior Artist Ashley Thundercliffe (what a name!) then revealed the challenges the studio faced in managing foliage throughout the map. “If we go too dense with the foliage we have people hiding in the corners, if we don’t go dense enough, we don’t sell the narrative of the overgrowth.” he says.

Their objective was to find “the perfect harmony to make sure that we’ve got a beautiful, realistic-looking space, while also being fun for the players to enjoy.”

According to a tweet from CharlieIntel, the Farm 18 map will be playable in the upcoming beta – following confirmation from Activision. The beta dates for the sequel were recently announced to be coming throughout September.

The next iteration of the shooter series – and last until 2024Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II, is scheduled to launch on October 28, 2022, and be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, and PC via Battle.net and Steam.
