If you have already fought multiple summons in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and think there is no more threat left, then you are missing out on your most formidable enemy, Odin. He is one of the strongest, if not the strongest, in the game, worthy of taking you down on your knees within a few minutes in the battle.
Regardless of which difficult level you have set to fight Odin, an unclear and feeble strategy will just make you a joke in front of the menacing creature. So, how do you beat him? Worry not! This guide discusses how you can beat Odin in FF7 Rebirth. If you are on the lookout for a good strategy, make sure to read until the end.
How To Prepare For Odin Fight In FF7 Rebirth
Since Odin is one of the most formidable opponents in FF7 Rebirth, you should have a good strategy ready that suits your playing style. You must also understand the basic stuff that you are supposed to be equipped with, ranging from Materia to Equipment and others. Along with that, a good team composition plays a significant role in taking on a menacing enemy.
Here’s what you need to do:
Best Materia
Odin has some excessively strong attacks that can kill your entire party in a single shot, which is actually scary. We recommend equipping yourself with Revival and Healing Materia. Needless to say, your team members might end up getting knocked out by Odin while trying to battle him, so having the Revival Materia can help them get back to the battlefield, giving them a second chance. On the other hand, Healing Materia can be used to provide some sort of healing spells to every party member. It is mainly needed when you revive a party member and they are low on HP.
You can also use the Enervation and Poison Materia for the menacing battle. With the Enervation Materia, you can use Deprotect and Deshell, the two abilities Odin has lesser resistance to. And even though Odin has greater resistance to Poison, you can still use it as it deals continuous damage over time. So, having yourself equipped with the four mentioned Materia is enough for the fight.
Best Team Composition
Cloud, Tifa, and Yuffie should be your party members to fight the dreadful boss, Odin. The three characters are fast-paced, making them worthy of dodging and blocking Odin’s attacks and landing melee attacks on the said enemy simultaneously. Yes, dodging plays an essential role during the entire fight!
Some other great options are Aerith and Barret. These members are great when you strive to land ranged attacks rather than go for the melee ones. Of course, being far away from the boss decreases the chance of taking hits. However, it totally depends on your play style, so make sure to choose your party members carefully.
How To Beat Odin In FF7 Rebirth
Now comes the real task: fighting the toughest summons of the game, Odin. When it comes to fighting Odin, you have to do everything possible whenever you get a chance; just dodging the attacks will not do. You also need to keep inflicting damage, or else the opponent will take no time unleashing his most potent move.
In case you don’t know, if you keep taking hits from Odin, he will use Gjallahorn’s Warning to inform that he is now getting bored and wants to finish off the fight. Well, you shouldn’t take this lightly, as this warning appears some moments before he uses his ultimate move, Zantetsuken. This remarkable move, once unleashed, can kill your entire party, giving you no time to fight back or survive. So, keep dodging and attacking the opposition’s moves to help yourself survive the onslaught.
That said, the best way to deal damage against Odin is to land as many ATB commands as you can. This will pressure the enemy and excite him about the fight, preventing the possibility of Gjallahorn’s Warning. However, you should equip your characters with the Revival Earrings, which can help your character get instant revival after being killed (once used, the earrings will break).
Odin’s fight consists of three phases. The first one happens when he’s at 100% health. The second one occurs when his HP bar downgrades to 50%. At that time, he will use one of his special moves, Spatial Distortion, and break the fighting arena into two halves. And finally, the third phase appears after the enemy’s health comes down to 25%. There, he will pull out another special move, Lord Of The Battlefield, taking out his weapons to intensify the fight.
You are not supposed to get scared of these moves. Instead, focus more on landing hits on the enemy and dodging its attack whenever you get a chance. Eventually, keep going with the given strategy, and you will be a winner in no time, which is the real motivation for this entire fight.
