Fire Emblem Engage: How to Create and Meld Bond Rings

Fire Emblem Engage’s story centers around the Emblem Rings (and DLC Emblem Bracelets), a series of powerful artifacts home to the spirits of protagonists from past Fire Emblem games. Not counting purchasable DLC, twelve characters are available as Emblem rings, one representing each of the previous main series Fire Emblem titles. Equipping these Emblem Rings in battle grants characters increased stats and access to several powerful weapons and abilities.

However, the twelve Emblem Rings are not the only Fire Emblem characters to lend a hand to the protagonists of Engage. The game also features a series of Bond Rings, stat-boosting rings inspired by other popular Fire Emblem characters who were not chosen as Emblems. There are ten Bond Rings associated with each Emblem Ring, and each Bond Ring comes in four rarities: C, B, A, and S. Most Bond Rings boost between one and three stats, but some also grant skills and abilities. The DLC bracelets do not come with any Bond Rings at this time.

Bond Rings are extremely useful because, in most maps, you will have more units to deploy than you have Emblem Rings available. Therefore, you should always make sure to have plenty of Bond Rings on hand before deploying for battle. This guide will cover how to create and meld Bond Rings in Fire Emblem Engage.

Create Rings Using Bond Fragments

Bond3

First, you must complete Chapter 3 of Fire Emblem Engage, at which point you will gain access to the floating island Somniel. Somniel serves as a peaceful base that you can visit between battles in order to relax. There are many facilities available on the Somniel, including a fishing pond, a stable for raising animals, and an arena for training your units. As you progress through the game, more and more Somniel facilities will become unlocked.

As soon as you have access to the Somniel, one of the first facilities open to you will be the Chamber of the Rings. This is where you can create and meld Bond Rings as well as polish Emblem Rings, inherit skills, and enhance Emblem weapons.

To create Bond Rings, simply interact with the pedestal in the center of the Ring Chamber. Then, choose “Create Bond Rings” and select which Emblem’s Rings you would like to create. This will allow you to summon Bond Rings from that character’s game of origin. For example, selecting Marth will earn you Bond Rings from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light.

You can either create Bond Rings in single batches (costing 100 Bond Fragments each) or perform a bulk summoning using 1000 Bond Fragments to obtain ten rings at once. Every Bond Ring you create will be logged in the pedestal so that you can see how many you have. With ten rings at four different rarities per Emblem for a total of 480 Bond Rings, you will need a lot of Bond Fragments if you want to collect them all.

Meld Bond Rings Together To Produce Higher Value Rings

Bond2

While you can theoretically obtain every Bond Ring in the game simply by creating them in batches of ten, this process is random and will likely take a long time. Luckily, you can also meld lower-rarity Bond Rings together to create higher rarity rings. You will likely end up with a ton of these lower-rarity rings via the ring creation process, so this is a great way to put them to good use.

The necessary amount of rings and bond fragments to create higher level rings are:

2 Bond C rings + 100 Bond Fragments = 1 Bond B ring

2 Bond B rings + 1000 Bond Fragments = 1 Bond A ring

2 Bond A rings + 10000 Bond Fragments = 1 Bond S ring

As with creating rings, you will have to farm a great deal of Bond Fragments in order to obtain higher-level Bond Rings. However, this is highly recommended, as S tier Bond Rings give a powerful stat boost when equipped, and some also come with skills that units can use in battle.

Stock Up on Bond Fragments

Bond5

Luckily, there are plenty of ways to earn Bond Fragments while playing Fire Emblem Engage. Here are just a few tips:

  • Completing achievements and turning them in at the bulletin board in the Somniel
  • Petting and feeding Sommie, guardian of the Somniel, in his grotto
  • Talking to allies after completing each map
  • Catching the Bonus Fish in the Fishing mini-game in the Somniel
  • Picking up glowing items scattered around both battle maps and the Somniel
  • Successfully completing Strength Training at the Training Yard in the Somniel
  • Earning high scores in the Wyvern Riding mini-game in the Somniel
  • Donating funds to allied countries via the bulletin board in the Somniel

Equip Bond Rings Before Going Into Battle

Bond4

Once you have created and melded the Bond Rings you want, you can use the Emblem Ring menu to equip them onto units. Ideally, any unit going into battle without an Emblem Ring or Emblem Bracelet equipped should use a high-tier Bond Ring. There is no reason to send a unit into battle without a Bond Ring, as the benefits they provide are many.

Here’s a quick list of which S-tier Bond Rings provide skills that can be used in battle. You may wish to prioritize these Bond Rings when choosing what to equip. Which Emblem the Bond Ring is associated with is also listed.
