Alessandro Cortini is probably better known for touring with Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails than as a composer. In much the same way, Alain Johannes has more name recognition from his time with Queens of The Stone Age and Them Crooked Vultures.
Their most recent collaboration on Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is apparently good enough to get released on physical media. Laced Records has partnered with Ubisoft to release the soundtrack to Breakpoint on a 2-disc audiophile-quality album.
Johannes and Cortini got together with drummer Norm Block to produce 51 tracks for the original soundtrack. The Laced Records vinyl release will only feature 28 of those tracks, but they’ll be specifically mastered for vinyl.
Johannes apparently enjoyed working on the project to begin with. “I loved every moment of creating this soundtrack with my super talented friends Alessandro and Norm. Immersing ourselves in the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint world and reacting off it and each other was an amazing experience. It’s definitely some of my favorite music I’ve ever been a part of,” he said.
Cortini seemed equally pleased by the experience. “It was magical to work with such inspiring musicians and friends and to be given the chance of creating the sonic landscape for the game.”
Laced Records has released a number of game soundtracks on vinyl in the past, and this one looks to be a worthy addition. The sleeves will have art designed by Yann Orhan, a Paris-based graphic designer. The album can be pre-ordered on Laced’s website, at a price of $35 USD.
The album itself will not ship until September. Fans of the series, or music lovers who have a fondness for game soundtracks, will probably want to be putting in their orders as soon as possible, as there is no guarantee of a second pressing.
