GTA Online’s Cayo Perico Heist Begins December 15

From December 15, a major heist will be heading to Grand Theft Auto Online. The Cayo Perico Heist has been described in a Rockstar blog post as the biggest GTA Online adventure ever,” allowing players to go in solo or in teams of three.

The successful player/players will take control of the heavily secure private island and make off with “valuable evidence along with as much art, gold and drug money as you can carry.” There’s an entirely new exotic location to explore, with vehicles and tactical weapons ready for the taking. Rockstar says there are “social spaces to dance and party in with your friends, and new world-class guest DJs, and listen to new radio stations with over 100 new songs.” If that isn’t enough, there’s also “a very large, very versatile, and very heavily armed submarine HQ with plenty of other surprises.”

In other Rockstar news, the studio recently announced their next-gen backward compatible titles, with a number of Grand Theft Auto, as well as both Red Dead Redemption titles playable on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S.  Other titles include L.A Noire and it’s VR side story, L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files. Bully: Scholarship Edition and Max Payne are also backwards compatible.

If you’re looking to revisit Grand Theft Auto on the next-gen hardware, the loading times for GTA V’s story mode and online play were recently proven to be considerably shorter on the Xbox Series X. A clip was published online by GameRiot and established that the loading process took less than forty seconds to launch GTA V’s story mode, while around two minutes to enter the online world.
