Gwent: The Witcher Card Game Available On Steam

After two years of fan requests, CD Projekt Red has made an exciting announcement: Gwent, the popular card game spinoff of their beloved The Witcher franchise, is now available via the PC gaming platform Steam. The faction-based deck-building game can be downloaded for free.

Gwent, in which players compete using powerful cards to accumulate a higher point total in two out of three rounds, originated as a combination mini-game and sidequest in the 2015 open-world RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Players were drawn to the game due to its gorgeous card art addictive yet straightforward playstyle. Many found themselves eagerly completing the “Collect ’em All” quest, taking the time to acquire every card from the lowly Poor F***ing Infantry to the powerful Geralt of Rivia himself.

In 2018, an expanded version of the game, entitled Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, was released via the CD Projekt-owned platform GOG. Over the next two years, versions of Gwent have been made available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, iOS, and Android. Also, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, a single-player campaign using Gwent’s card-based system, was released for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.

Gwent officially debuted on Steam on May 19, 2020. It features both cross-play and synchronization with other versions of the game, meaning that players can carry over progress and rewards. Steam Achievements and Trading Cards are also enabled for the game. Additionally, bonus free rewards are available for players who complete the Thronebreaker campaign, which was also released for Steam.

Download Gwent on Steam today and explore a variety of free Intro Decks to determine your preferred playstyle. Customize your deck, avatar, and more as you earn daily rewards. Challenge other players in both Classic and Ranked mode – perhaps you will even rise high enough to enter an official Gwent tournament. Get started now!
