The nominees have been announced for the 2025 BAFTA Games Awards, the annual British award show that celebrates “outstanding creative achievement” in the video game industry. There is of course a focus on British games, but all games released in the last year before the cut-off are eligible for nomination! Leading the pack of this year’s nominees is Ninja Theory’s Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, nominated for eleven BAFTAs in total. It’s followed by PlayStation’s Astro Bot and The Chinese Room’s Still Wakes the Deep which are both tied with eight.
Hellblade II and Still Wakes the Deep are both British-made games, thus being a solid sign of Britain’s growing gaming market and industry. Both are nominated for best British Game, as well as scooping up nominations in narrative, performance and audio categories. Astro Bot stands out as the most nominated non-British game, thanks to its many nominations including the highly coveted Best Game award.
The full nominee line up for Best Game includes Astro Bot, Balatro, Black Myth: Wukong, Helldivers 2, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and Thank Goodness You’re Here!. The Best Game award last year was awarded to Baldur’s Gate 3, a game that swept the show and saw Larian Studios leaving with five BAFTA awards. We can’t wait to see who wins big in the 2025 BAFTA Game Awards, slated for an April 8 air date.
Who are you hoping to see take home some awards in this year’s BAFTA Game Awards? You can check out the full list of awards and nominees here – personally I’m rooting for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in the music category!
