We’ve all seen the stories about just how well Monster Hunter Wilds has been performing on Steam, entering the top five most played games ever as well as helping Steam break its all-time peak concurrent user record. Well, it’s time for another record to be broken, as Monster Hunter Wilds has sold 8 million copies in just three days. This makes Monster Hunter Wilds not just the fastest selling Monster Hunter game, but the fastest selling of all games in Capcom’s history.
This is a huge feat, as Capcom is responsible for some of the most iconic characters and franchises in gaming, from Resident Evil to Mega Man. It seems though that the power of Monster Hunter has become just too strong, after the last mainline entry Monster Hunter World sold 5 million copies in three days – a 60% increase!
This is a giant milestone for the series that was once only really popular in its native Japan. As Monster Hunter has expanded its gameplay and multiplayer options, it slowly also gained in size with its audience. What we’re now left with is a giant franchise on-par with, if not exceeding, Capcom’s other giant franchise Resident Evil. We’re loving Monster Hunter Wilds so far, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for the series – and hopefully some impactful performance patches on PC!
