After the announcement trailer dropped back in 2019, Ninja Theory’s Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II has remained a bit in the dark. Even when the Xbox Series X/S dropped, there was no definitive update on the next gen game.
However, Senua actress herself, Melina Juergens has provided a tease over on her Twitter page. The post shows the actress decked out in Senua’s war paint from the trailer with the caption reading ‘For every battle won, a greater battle takes its place #senuassaga #hellbladesenuassacrifice’. After a lot of anticipation from fans, speculation surrounding the post has certainly been a talking point. Some fans have been questioning whether Hellblade II could be in the near distant future.

We have seen many games be put on hold as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, so we are unlikely to see anything concrete anytime soon. We should also note that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II was not mentioned under Microsoft’s latest list for games coming in 2021.
The announcement trailer gave us a look into the in engine footage and a sneak peek of what is to come next in Senua’s story. Sticking true to the Nordic roots, the sequel appears to show a battle-hardened Senua and a glance at the visually impressive graphics.
Hellblade was one of those games that was a bit of a dark horse. It was made by independent developers so it wasn’t overly mainstream, but it ended up cementing its place in the hearts of fans. It was very well received by critics and fans alike, with much praise being directed towards the portrayal of psychosis, emotion, the storyline, and visual presentation. Hellblade especially received praise for its quality compared to other independent developers.
Ninja Theory’s Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will be released on Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC.
