Hyper Scape Officially Launches

Ubisoft’s new battle royale game Hyper Scape has officially launched. Players can download the client from the game’s website (for PC), or through the appropriate storefronts on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Hyper Scape puts players in a virtual environment of the same name, slugging it out for fame and Twitch subscriber likes. Players can go the traditional route of being the last man standing or capturing a “Crown” which appears towards the end of a match. Holding on to the Crown for a sufficient period will win you the game. Aside from a variety of weapons, players will also have access to “Hacks,” abilities that can deal direct damage to opposing players or help get you into a position to make the kill. Also hidden in the game world are “Memory Shards,” small packets of lore, which will grant players new insight into the setting as well as putting new items in their lockers.

Part of the game’s loop deals with the Crowncast Twitch extension, which not only lets players show off in a Twitch stream but periodically affects the current match by letting viewers vote on different mutators, which will affect the environment on a global scale. The extension also allows players and viewers to garner rewards if they’re an Amazon Prime subscriber with a linked Prime Gaming account. Prime players will be able to advance through the 100 levels of Hyper Scape‘s seasonal Battle Pass just by watching other players who have the Crowncast extension installed and active.

Ubisoft is touting Hyper Scape‘s cross-progression feature (similar to Fortnite) and hinting that cross-play may be coming at some point in the future. However, they also ominously indicate it will be an “optional” feature.  For now, players can download the client, visit the game’s website for patch notes, and get help setting up their Twitch extension
