Kena: Bridge of Spirits Coming to PlayStation 5 This Summer

It’s been a while since a PlayStation State of Play event featured any news about Kena: Bridge of Spirits. The action adventure title from Ember Labs was last featured in a PlayStation 5-focused showcase last June. Luckily, today’s event featured plenty of Kena news for excited fans.

We got a closer look at game play, which features a third person perspective and stars young spirit guide Kena as the primary playable protagonist. Kena uses her staff in combat, which is also able to transform into the powerful Spirit Bow. As she travels around a rich, expansive world helping restless spirits find peace, Kena also collects a number of small spirits known as the Rot which can help her solve puzzles, traverse difficult terrain, and even lend a hand in battle.

The new trailer for Kena focused on the both the game’s beautiful world and the dangerous enemies which inhabit it. Kena was shown venturing to locations including the mystical Mountain Shrine, where she faced off in combat against giant masked foes both human, animal, and otherworldly in nature. Luckily, it’s not all terrifying monsters and deadly enemies – we also got a glimpse at Saiya and Beni, a pair of young children who Kena will aid when they encounter a restless spirit who might just be a departed family member.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits was originally scheduled to release in late 2020, but was delayed due to difficulties related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, the game is scheduled to be released on August 24, 2021 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Are you excited to journey through a gorgeous world freeing trapped spirits from their torment? Do you find the “Rot” companion spirits as adorable as we do? Let us know!
