Mick Gordon, composer for Doom (2016), Prey, and Wolfenstein: The New Order, has sent out an invitation to all metal screamers to join his “Heavy Metal Choir.” The choir is to be used in the soundtrack for a game currently in development (*cough* Doom Eternal *cough*).
In his brief video, Gordon states that he is looking to create what he believes to be the first choir of screamers. Think you have what it takes? The requirements are as follows:
- Go to mick-gordon.com/666
- Fill in your name and email.
- Drop a link to a demo of your screams.
- Be in Austin, Texas during the first week of March.
If you are chosen, you will have the opportunity to participate in a paid recording session and have your name credited in the game. You must be 18 or older to apply. The deadline was recently moved up from Feb. 1 to Jan. 11 due to overwhelming response, so if you plan to apply, do so soon.
Many have taken to social media expressing interest in participating, including metal parody YouTuber Jared Dines, who simply replied to the video with ,“im down.”
Gordon is known for his heavy-metal-laden soundtracks, winning Best Video Game Soundtrack for Doom at The Game Awards 2016.
Doom was renowned for its tight, break-neck gunplay and hard-hitting soundtrack. Being the first game in the franchise since 2004’s Doom 3, fans were eager to get back to Mars and take on the demon onslaught.
Eternal was announced at Bethesda’s E3 2018 press conference, with gameplay later shown at QuakeCon in August. The game is slated for release later this year.
